| I know, I know, I quoted Mr. Rogers...go ahead and laugh now. Done yet? Okay, let's move on.
After struggling to stay awake enough to take notes in Biopsych and learning a whole lot more Cognitive Psych than one would think a professor could cram into an hour and a half, I'm parked on a couch on Capen's third floor taking great pleasure in the fact that today is the last class day of this week. I can't believe Thanksgiving got here so fast, but I can't wait to see everyone who's been away at school, like JJ and Matty B!!!
Speaking of Thanksgiving. What is up with this weather, Buffalo? I grabbed my new winter-ish coat this morning and ran back in the house and switched to my aerie sweater because it was so nice out!! I don't understand how it's November 24th and I'm wearing just a thick sweater for my coat. But I'll take it. :)
So yesterday when I got home from school I followed my usual "have the house to myself" routine and recorded a few songs with Audacity. Mostly just to laugh at. But one or two of them may reach the online world soon. Unfortunately they're still just covers....anyone with song-writing advice, feel free to share it. I've got plenty of ideas floating in my head. Anyway, I ended up being completely unproductive yesterday other than those recordings, but Mom did bring me a present home from her Christmas shopping. What, might you ask, didn't she think should wait until Christmas? For Your Entertainment. Adam Lambert's CD which dropped into stores yesterday.
Insert giddy fangirl squeal here. And another. And a few more.
Haha. On a more serious note, I put it on a flash drive this morning so I could listen to it right now while I'm waiting for mom to get here. Usually during this break I'm incredibly impatient and get to thinking about how badly I want my own car. But today I'm trying to decide how I feel about this album. Has anyone else heard any of these songs yet? I heard Time For Miracles, the last track, about a month ago. It's alright, but I wasn't crazy impressed. Then I heard For Your Entertainment, and was shocked like most people at his AMA performance of it...though I thought it was kind of brilliant. Again, not a song that smacks me in the face with power or really speaks to me, but it is definitely catchy and I'm a fan. I think I'm going to have to listen to the CD a few more times before I decide about the rest of the tracks though. I like Strut and If I Had You, and laugh every time he says 'silly menage a trois' in Fever, but there's nothing that has much of an emotional connection. It's all catchy stuff, and I'm sure I'll listen a lot. If for no other reason than it's Adam Lambert and he's basically a god in my book. But who remembers when he sang Mad World on American Idol? I fall in love with him every time I see or hear it. Or how about when he shocked us all and completely reworked Ring of Fire? Where's that star power? Not exhibited here, in my humble opinion. Are we only going to get to see his artistry when he does live performances? I sure hope not, because after Sunday, I would bet good money that network television will avoid inviting Adam Lambert on their stations.
| Well, I do believe I'm overdue for a post. I'm writing this from the newest addition to my technology family. It's an HP Mini 1000. If you've never heard of one, go google it. This is seriously the coolest little thing I've ever used. I custom built mine, which raised the price quite a bit from the base model but I would have done all these upgrades and paid more down the line anyways so I'm quite happy. My primary laptop is a 15" Sony Vaio and as many of you know, gets eight minutes of battery life on a good day. This Mini, however, is fantastic. Its primary battery, a 3-cell, gives me just shy of 3 hours of continued use. I'm using a 6-cell right now which as you could expect gives almost 6 hours of life. The best part is, this pc is hardly any bigger than a hardcover novel. The only issue I've run into so far is that the 1gigabyte of DDR2 memory isn't a whole lot of power for my usual tasks. I knew what I was buying, though, so I'm satisfied with that. Haha, look at this. I should become a spokesgirl for HP. Which I would in a heartbeat. As you can see, Maddie (yes, I named my netbook) has me quite overjoyed and I'll try and sell one to anyone who comes in contact with me. I can't wait to bring this to classes this semester, which, by the way, is the reason I bought it. I knew I'd need something that would last through a lecture without me having to sit behind the professor just to plug in.
Now, I should tell you, I find great humor in the irony of what else I'm doing at the moment. We all know multitasking is my thing. I'm watching a special on abc that I DVR'd a week or so ago, called Earth 2100. If you haven't seen it, you should see if you can stream it online or something. I know it's a bit cheesey, but watch the whole thing. It's rather scary, actually. The whole premise is that it follows the life of a girl named Lucy, born in today's world. I think they have her born in 2009, actually. By the time she's 75 we have destroyed our world and she no longer knows if her daughter is even alive because electricity has gone to hell. I know there are so many of you out there who think that this whole going green thing is all ridiculous but watch this show. From my limited knowledge of the subject, it seems to mostly check out. It all COULD happen. It doesn't necessarily HAVE to, but look at what we as humans are doing to this world. Do you see deer banding together and building great steel structures to house themselves in? No. Do you see them finding all sorts of ways to defy the laws of nature? No. And yet, their populations are doing just fine. Their biggest problem is getting hit by our wonderful automobiles and being hunted by people who for some reason (I don't have a clue what, but to each their own, I suppose) find it thrilling just to kill the animal. Not seeing where I'm going with this? Obviously, I'm a bit of a hypocrite, because I love my typical American life. I don't always turn things off when I'm not using them. I sometimes leave the water running and walk away from the sink to grab something. I can't wait to get a car. I fall asleep with my TV still on. I'm writing to you from one of mannnnny pieces of technology in my collection., My cell phone is rarely more than five feet from myself. Fast food is a wonderful thing, if you ask me. No, I don't care if what I'm about to mindlessly pop into my mouth has yellow dye #5 or ascorbic acid or aspartame, it tastes good and I'm still going to eat it. Treat my taste buds now, get cancer later...well, alright. I will lay outside to soak up some sun with the intention of getting a nice tan. The music I'll play on my iPod while cooking my skin and trying not to fall asleep is just an added bonus. I think you get the idea. I'm by no means the most "green" girl in the world, but watching this special had me thinking about something I've pondered many a time in recent years. It can be summed up with this question.
"Are the people who still live a 'prairie' life with no electricity, a little log cabin in the woods, homespun clothes, and get around on bicycles really all that crazy?"
Think about this a little bit...I have something I want to go do. But I'll be back to share what I think. Feel free to post your opinions in the meantime. That is, if anyone is actually looking at this. Haha I don't even know who has this web address.

| my user infoShe's the girl you see dancing down the streets and you think must be insane she skips along, and twirls, and sings then stops to smell the air she breathes.
people stare but what does she care? the whole world's at her feet. sapphire sky, adorned with diamonds perfect warm breeze toussling her hair
almost lost in the wonders of spring, her eyes land upon a special boy you wonder why he's locked in her gaze, a magnetic bond like nothing you've seen
captivated as she floats to his side he sweeps her into his arms taken by this kindred charm hands meet and hearts collide
swiftly as they came, so were they gone leaving you standing there, looking on surroundings suddenly seem renewed eyes catching the world with a rose-colored view no trace of the pair, but left behind is hope for what you've yet to find
| So I haven't left the house since Monday, thanks to whatever I caught from the little kids at the last Bounce Magic sleepover I worked. Apparently helping a hundred little girls make bookmarks wasn't the brightest idea during flu season, but whatever. Anyway, I've been completely and utterly bored, and this is my current mood:
I hate guys. Love my guy friends, but I just don't feel like dealing with guys as far as dating goes anymore. Nope. [Don't hate me when I change my mind in two days, because we all know I will, but...] I hate drama. I hate the drama relationships bring, and I hate the drama that spouts between girls over guys. I don't know why any of us put up with it. I don't know what a guy has to bring to the table to be able to avoid it either. Wouldn't that be a nifty piece of information to find in a handbook somewhere?
Sigh. Not really. I think I just want a new guy to come along and not be like everyone else. Anyone know of any of those? Preferably of the cute variety? The guys I keep meeting at UB that I think I'm interested in are all far too....in with a different crowd, shall i say, or are creepy, or have a girlfriend already....
...............or a boyfriend.
Oh well. I'll find one eventually.
